1 year………Oh how I miss you….

18 04 2011

Brigette, I can’t believe it has been 1 year. Oh how I miss you so much.  Many of the days are so long, but the year has flown by.  Your smile is missed, your voice is missed, your energy is missed, your meer presence in a room is missed.  You are dearly missed.  These past few weeks have been so hard….remembering all that had gone on.  The count down to Maryland birth….the amazing birth…wow, such a sweet little girl.  Then only 2 week later your life ending, your smile gone from us on Earth forever.  Your girls are so beautiful. I am so thankful for Facebook, Bobby keeps us all updated with pics and cute quotes.  Montana is so big!  I can’t believe he is 10 years old nad what a baseball player he is.

Brigette, there are so many things I don’t understand about life.  One of those is the life of a very young mother with 3 children leaving this world.  Things I do know are…God is good, God is in control and we live in a fallen world with lots of pain and tears.  The realities of this make me want to see Heaven that much more.

Brigette, you are missed. YOu are loved and you were an amazing mother and wife.    So many days I just sit and think of our times together and how much I long to hear your very happy voice on the other end of the phone. I love you and miss you!

God’s plan is always best…..

15 03 2011

Things are going great for the Ferraro’s.  God always seems to change things right when we think we have them figured out….has this every happened to you?  Well, almost 2 weeks ago I started to throw up…..hummmmmm……..So I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a test.  And it was POSITIVE!!! I almost fell over to be honest. 🙂

So, 12 days later I went to the doctors.  He did an U/S to figure out a due date.  He did the U/S to find a VERY small little baby and heart beat, we were only 5 weeks and 5 days along.  Oh, what a sweet sight seeing that LITTLE heart beat!  God is so amazing on how He creates life! 🙂  That means Dave and I found out only 8 days after conception……oh, I made him promise me there was only one in there, but the dr. said it was too early to tell.  Maybe another little girl, I was super sick with Grace. 😀  It doesn’t matter to us, God sure knows what we need better than we do.

So our new THING 5 is due November 9th, 2011. 🙂  The dr. and us are being very active in making sure I don’t end up with another 9 lbs.  Ethan had lots of problems with his sugar when he was born and he got stuck. 😦 So we are going to be checking my sugar more often than normal.  I am very happy about this. Please pray for….

Wisdom for the doctors

Health of the baby

Health for me (for me to be able to take care of the kids while being sick)

Planning for our family

Thank you very much!!!!! 😀  WE are very excited to add another wonderful blessing to our family. 😀

Date Night….12 dates in 12 months!!!! :)

19 02 2011

Dave and I have decided to do a date a month this year…..we would love more time together, but with Dave’s crazy work schedule we needed  to make a plan. 🙂

So, we are on Month 2….and we spent our date night in the ER.  Not only for a little while, but the whole next day too.  Dave was feeling ill the other day and kept saying he was fine.  Just a stomach ache.  No big deal he said…..but after a while it got worse….and worse.  I checked him out and told him I thought he was having a Appendicitis.  He didn’t think so, but after it was getting worse he went in.  After a Cat Scan they saw that it was for sure his Appendix and maybe an abscess.  (Which means it was leaking or about to rupture).

We were at a smaller hospital so they had to call in the whole OR unit.  By 1 am they had finished the surgery and he was in recovery.

He is resting well and at home now.  He is off from UPS for 2 weeks, but will be able to get work done for the church from home.  We are so thankful in so many ways, God is so good. 🙂  His hand was in this and how things worked out.  Please pray for Dave as he is recovering, he is in a lot of pain at the moment.

Next month he better not try to top it. 🙂

Happy Birthday Isaac!!!!

12 02 2011

Wow, can you really be 7 years old?  Where has the time gone?  Just thinking that I only have a few more years to mold and shape you, before your on your own, makes me want to cry.  I can’t believe how fast the time goes, but oh how thankful I am for you.  You are an amazing kid!  It is such a delight to see you have a heart for eternal things.  Your love for people and missions amazes me!  You challenge me everyday and your wisdom is well beyond your years.

Our prayer for you is that God will continue to teach you, lead you and that you will obey His commands for your life.  He is your strength and your guide, lean on Him.

Thank you Isaac for being our son!  We could not be more happy with you. 🙂  Enjoy your 7th birthday, don’t rush it.  Adulthood will be here before you know it.  We love you!

Isaac’s passion is Baseball!  The kid plays it almost every minute of the day in the summer. 🙂

A favorite picture from this past year. 🙂

An event that happened this year was Isaac taking a step of obedience.  His understanding of eternal things amazes us.  He now says, “I have work to do for the church, I am apart of the body.”

Happy Birthday Son!  We love you.

File Folder Games

24 01 2011

I have heard so many things about file folder games…..but I have never really felt they would be of much value to our home school.  Most of the file folder games I had come across were only for preschool age children.  Then after talking to a friend on-line I decided to do some more investigating on these things.

I am HOOKED!!!! We love them.  All of my children are able to work on concepts in a new and fun way.  The best part is that they are almost FREE!!! I say almost because we had to go and buy the file folders….we got 100 for 6 dollars and we had to buy laminate paper, also pretty cheap.  All in all these things are great.

The site I used to get these great file folder games is FileFolderFun.com.  Here are some step by step instructions on how we put them together. 🙂

After printing all the pages on-line I cut them out. 🙂 This is not a fun task, but it is well worth it.  Then I laminated the games pieces.

After finishing all the games pieces I moved onto the file folders.  I glued on what needed to be on the inside of the file folder.  I then laminated those as well and cut them out.

Here is Gracie playing the Rain Drop game.  This one works on the sounds PL, BL, SH and CH. 🙂

Here is the Cupcake Counting game.  This is the front of the folder.

Here is the inside of the Cupcake counting game.  Notice that the numbers are not in order, this helps the child learn the numbers and not the order.  But if you want them to learn the order then see below…… 🙂

I attached the cupcakes with the numbers with velcro 🙂 This way I can move the numbers around….I can put them in order, I can mix them up or I can put all the odd on oneside and even on the other.

This is one of my favorites!  This one is for practice with telling time. 🙂

This is the inside of Who Knows What Time it is?  The owl heads spin to show what time it is (See left hand side).  The right shows what it looks like before the child checks the answer.

Here is Isaac practicing his time telling skills. 🙂

This game is Space Rhymes 🙂 Another very fun game.

This game is for the younger child.  This is a color matching game….perfect for my youngest homeschoolers. 🙂

This is the last one I made last night….but not least!  It is Acorn Addition.  A great game to help reinforce math facts.

I have really enjoyed making these and seeing my children enjoy them so much. They are a great game to throw in the diaper bag for waits in the dr.s office etc.  I love that I can make them custom for my children…..we are thinking of making one for skip counting and money next. 🙂

I hope you will give them a try. Even if you don’t home school you can create these for your children to help with their current studies. 🙂  Have fun!

Recorder…..Homeschool Co-op

21 01 2011

This year we are in a home school co-op and I have to say…WE LOVE IT!!!!  We all go on Thursdays from 9:30 until 2 pm.  The kids each have 5 classes, lunch and chapel.  There are 65 families and they are all amazing. 🙂  The kids are learning so much and have enjoyed being with other children. 🙂

One class I am very happy with is Recorder class.  Isaac is learning music theory and how to play the recorder.  He is doing so well and I am very happy with the instruction that is being given to him.  This past month he played on stage for us during chapel and for the Showcase.  Here are some pics of my sweet boy. (Yes, he is that big already….if anyone knows how to slow this stage down, please let me know).  🙂

Isaac playing Hot Cross Buns on stage during chapel time.  Next to him on right is his friend Caleb.

Here Isaac is playing Mary Had a Little Lamb for showcase night. 🙂
