And these are a few of my favorite things….

Did you catch the music in the title?  🙂

I have been wanting to post some of my favorite things for a while now and I am just getting around to it now.  These are random and may help you in running a home as well.

First, I LOVE….can I say that again…LOVE the new Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gels!!!  They are wonderful.  I clean the toilet, then I attach the gel to the rim of the toilet and it last for about 10 days.  (The box says 7, but ours have been for about 10 days – 2 weeks) and we have  a lot of flushing going on here.  It cleans the toilet with every flush and makes the toilet smell good!!!!  That is something that is hard to accomplish with 3 potty trained preschoolers/toddlers.

Second, I am in LOVE with my school table.  Okay, this is silly I know, but I love that the kids can set up a project and I don’t have to make them clean it up so we can eat meals.  Now, you don’t have to homeschool to enjoy this wonderful feature to a house.  If your children love games, puzzles, coloring, play do etc. you would love to have a kids table!!!!  They can play and make a little mess without ruining your good kitchen table.

Third, I love this book called Once a Month Cooking.  A very dear friend bought it for me as a surprise and had it shipped to my house!  I couldn’t believe it.  Last night at dinner as everyone was eating Dave said, “Where did you get this recipe it is soooo good.”  The recipes are easy and really good, my family has really enjoyed all the time I now have.  I don’t use the book yet like it says too, but I pull out about 6-8 recipes from it that sound good for the month and double them and make them in one day.  We then eat those recipes that month and then I have a whole set for the next month to use as well.

Okay, that is all for now, but I will be adding to this list as I continue with my days.  Enjoy!

Many of you know that we had a miscarriage back in November of this past year.  We would have been holding our sweet blessing sometime next week (our due date would have been next Friday).  We will have to wait until glory to hold that sweet baby…or will it be a grown child?  I don’t understand all of that, but I know that God has promises and they are always kept.

Maybe that is why I am so excited for Champ to get here.  We are 33 weeks and I know that the baby is NOT ready to be born yet.  But in my heart I feel like I have been preg. for a long time.  We were 5 weeks when we lost our baby and then we were preg. again within a couple weeks.  Making me feel like I have been preg. for almost 9 months already.

My heart still longs for the sweet baby we won’t get to meet here on Earth, but will have to wait until glory to meet.  That seems so far away to me right now!

I didn’t know how I would feel about a miscarriage or how I would deal with it.  I don’t think about it most days, but on days like this I think about it.  Days when I know we would be delivering or would have already delivered.  Also, my dear dear friend and I would have been due the same week.  She is due on Monday and I keep thinking what it would be like to be preg. with her!  God knows my heart, He knows my needs and wants!  He knows what is best and He knows why in His perfect wisdom He had to take a baby away from us.  I can only trust in Him and His timing and not my own.  It can just be hard on the heart sometimes!

Time to Freeze ladies…..

8 07 2009

In our home we LOVE to eat lots of veggies and fruit.  The only problem is in the winter months we don’t get to eat all the variety we get in the summer due to costs.  We just can’t afford to be buying strawberries, blueberries etc. at 4 or 5 dollars.

Now is the time to freeze if you want to have that wonderful taste for a fraction of the cost!!!

Yesterday while at Meijer I stocked up on blueberries.  They are 4 for 5 dollars!  Woo Hoo, what a great price that is let me tell you!  I bought 4 packs.  I took 2 packs and washed them, then lay them on a towel to dry.  After they were dry I put them in a freezer bag.  I then freeze flat.  After frozen you can move the bag to a standing position if you need to.  We do this with almost all types of fruit…..even grapes are a great treat frozen.  If you have never done that you have to give it a try!  You can just eat grapes right out of the bag frozen and they are soooo yummy.

Now, when it comes time to eat this fruit it doesn’t defrost well just to eat.  We use it for smoothies, pancakes, muffins, yogurt etc.  It is a little soft after you defrost it, but it is perfect for baking and cooking!

So, take some extra money with you and start to stock up on these WONDERFUL foods while they are in season so that your family and enjoy them all winter long.
